HOT MOMENTS: New Developments Between Iran and the USA Have Caused a Big plummet in Bitcoin and Altcoins! Here are the Details
Tensions in the Middle East are rising rapidly. The Iranian Parliament has approved a bill to close the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
For this decision to ultimately come into effect, the approval of Iran's Supreme National Security Council is also required. A member of the National Security Committee of the Iranian Parliament stated that the Revolutionary Guards are prepared to close the strait if necessary.
On the other hand, striking statements and moves have come from the fronts of the US and Israel. Israeli President Isaac Herzog stated in an interview on CNN's State of the Union program that Iran's nuclear program has not completely disappeared, but has suffered severe damage. Herzog also expressed that they do not want to draw the US into a war.
According to a report by NBC citing senior American officials, the Pentagon has accelerated the process of sending a second aircraft carrier group to the region. The USS Nimitz aircraft carrier and the accompanying destroyers have been dispatched to the area and are expected to arrive next week. It has been reported that Washington will maintain two aircraft carrier groups in the Middle East for at least a month.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced this morning that a successful bombing was carried out against three nuclear facilities in Iran and that these facilities had been "destroyed." Israel stated that they acted in "full coordination" with the U.S. during these attacks, while Iranian officials acknowledged that the facilities were hit but claimed that there were no significant losses.
An American official stated in an interview with Al Jazeera, "Iran still has the military capacity to attack our forces in the Middle East."
Increasing geopolitical risks have negatively affected the cryptocurrency markets as well. In the last hour, Bitcoin has dropped by 1.87% to $100,718, while Ethereum has lost 3.1% of its value, falling to $2,197.
